With the help of amazing volunteers from our club and Mississauga Synchro, we hosted the first competition of 2018. Taking place from January 18 to 21, 2018 at the Etobicoke Olympium, BSSC swimmers represented our club in amazing fashion.

A particular highlight was when BSSC swimmer Jaimee Near was announced as Synchro Ontario’s top fundraiser for their Burning Bright initiative. During the month of October, all clubs in Ontario came together to participate in the 14th edition of the event. On October 13, 2017, BSSC swimmers swam 4,012 laps and raised over $6,000 for the cause. Jaimee contributed $3,040 herself to help BSSC become the second highest fundraising club in the province. Together, Synchro Ontario athletes raised $55,746.16 for cancer research.

BSSC swimmers also had some incredible performances in the pool. Cailyn Wallace and Caroline Scott finished sixth and eighth respectively in 13-15 provincial figures. Cailyn was also awarded the trophy as the top 14 year old in 13-15 provincial figures and finished seventh in the 13-15 FINA solo event. In 11-12 figures, Paige Zimmerman and Sydney Mazzei finished in 7th and 10th place. Melanie Robillard and Jennifer Berry both brought home bronze medals in AWD-C Level 3 Figures and 10 and Under Figures respectively.
