Recreational

As a new challenge for a strong swimmer or as a complement to swimming lessons, our innovative synchronized swimming programs offer a fun activity and an introduction to a unique and challenging sport. Burlington Synchro offers novice programs from mid September to May. Programs are available to swimmers from 3 years of age. Swimmers are taught synchronized swimming skills following Synchro Canada’s ability based system. They will learn the necessary skills to achieve synchro star levels, and will be awarded star pins upon completion. Instruction occurs in a team environment. Teams can consist of up to 8 swimmers. Experienced groups will learn choreographed routines set to music for presentation at watershows and novice competitions.

AquaSquirts is a play-based, water orientation program that helps develop swimming skills for children 3-7 years of age. AquaSquirts involves fun in the water – jumping, rolling, spinning, twisting, and turning upside down.

Beginner 1/2/3 are programs run in 3 sessions for girls new to synchro age 6+ who have achieved Red Cross Swim Kids Level 5. Swimmers will learn basic skills and in session 3, a routine to music.

Intermediate is for swimmers who have been exposed to synchro through an introductory program or summer camp. Swimmers will participate in a club watershow and the Rec Extravaganza.

Advanced is for swimmers with at least one year synchro experience who have achieved their Star 2 pin. Swimmers will be challenged to develop new, more difficult skills. Swimmers will perform in a club watershow and the Rec Extravaganza.

Pre-Competitive is for swimmers interested in learning more about synchro as a competitive sport. Swimmers will prepare for and participate in novice competitions, including the Rec Extravaganza and club watershows.

Adult Beginner 1/2/3 are programs run in 3 sessions for women aged 18 and older who are new to synchro or have limited experience. Beginner serves as an introduction to the sport where swimmers will be taught basic skills and learn a routine to music. Improving aspects of fitness including flexibility, strength and endurance are a key focuses of this program

Competitive

Competitive Teams, Tiers 1-7 and Masters

Synchronized swimming is a challenging sport that provides swimmers with many unique skills and opportunities.  Our athletes develop strength, flexibility, grace, stamina, confidence and pride in their club and their sport.  As members of a team, the swimmers learn about commitment and sportsmanship.
BSSC offers competitive programs at the provincial, national, and masters’ levels which are based on Synchro Ontario’s age based system and Synchro Canada’s ability based system.  With swimmers in 10 & under, 11/12, 13-15 and 16-18 age categories, BSSC provides programming to meet the needs of all athletes.  Teams and extra routines (solo/duet/combo) are offered to swimmers in eligible levels

Conditioning and Skills Training (CST)

The Conditioning and Skills Training (CST) program is an opportunity for formerly competitive synchronized swimmers to develop or maintain their technical skills and fitness level.  Practices in this program will have a conditioning portion (workout, strength, flexibility, etc.) and a technical skills portion (sculling, figures, and other synchro skills).  This program is designed for swimmers wishing to stay involved in synchro and keep up their fitness level who are unable to make the commitment of a team.  Swimmers who intend to return to be a member of a team in the future are also encouraged to take part in this program.  Practices are once per week and 1.5 hours in length.

Tech Practices

The tech practice is an opportunity for athletes in all tier levels to develop their technical skills in a more personal setting.  Athletes work in groups of no more than three swimmers with one coach.  Technical development is extremely important in synchronized swimming: for star testing, figure development for competitions and overall athlete improvement.  Practices are once per week and 1 hour in length.
